Fish & Chip Fridays

As part of the sports clubs drive to be a vital part of the local community we launched our "Fish & Chip Friday" programme to attract older aged residents to come out of the house and socialise for an hour or two whilst they can tuck into a free portion of fish & chips made fresh in our kitchen and have a cup of tea to wash it down with.

The programme supported by a Big Lottery Fund grant has seen us host a number of "Fish & Chip Fridays" at the sports club and has been a great success. We've seen a steady amount of local people attend but what's more pleasing is that they've enjoyed the company and of course loved the food. Being a facility within the heart of the Town it's important that we don't just focus on the younger generation but also those of the older generation who with a little enticement can come and have a good time.

Local resident Brian (78) said "The owners have done wonders with this place, to have a "Fish & Chip Friday" event has been an excellent idea, you can see they have truly thought of everyone when they've planned what happens here. I've popped along to a couple of times and I've met people I've not seen or spoken to in years. It's a nice facility and the food has been excellent but catching up with old friends makes it an even better"

We are exploring other events where we can engage and attract the community to visit our facility that we are developing month on month to create a true community hub in the centre of Hebburn.
